Lower cost solutions for those in the middle
If you want to have a presence on the web - either for personal or business purposes - but you don't know much about creating web sites or coding, it can get pretty pricey. The costs for setting up a simple website with a few pages can easily run into the hundreds, and that's without considering monthly charges for ongoing hosting or maintenance of a site. I don't necessarily think this should be the case.
Don't get me wrong - those who have the technical prowess to construct complex solutions to big problems should be paid well for the work they do. It's not always an easy job. I tip my hat to anyone who's got the know how to build large scope websites with big time backends. But not everyone needs all of that.
A lot of folks just want a simple website that they can learn to manage themselves, or a simple blog to share their thoughts with the world. If you're okay with using cookie cutter templates and basic solutions, you can probably figure out how to do most of it yourself, using many of the available free services and basic editors that require no knowledge of HTML, PHP, mySQL, or any of those other gobbeldygook acronyms that your web developer cousin throws about at family functions to impress everyone. It doesn't take much know-how to set up a Blogger account and publish.
But what if you're in the middle of these two extremes? What if you want a simple page or blog, but want a distinctive look that has your own personality or you want to set your business site apart from the hundreds of others that are using the same template as you?
That's where I might be of help. Look around a bit, check out the description of the services I can offer, take a look at my portfolio to see some of what I've already done, read about me if you really want to know more, then when you're ready, contact me to get the ball rolling!
